Percy Douglas B. Human was born in Isleham in 1896 (Newmarket Q1-1896 3B:507), 2nd son of George W and Delphine HUMAN (née BIRLES).

1901 census...Aged [5], he was at Fen Bank, Isleham wih his father George W. HUMAN [31] farm labourer born Isleham; his mother Deplhine [34], born West End, London, brother Sidney [7] and sisters Hilda [3], Edith [2] and Katherine [8 months]. All the children were born in Isleham.

1911 census...Aged 15, yardman/cowman on farm, he was at Fen Bank, Isleham with his parents, brother Sidney (horseman on farm) and sisters Hilda, Edith and Catherine.


Enlisted in Bury St Edmunds.
Without his service records there is no way of telling if he died of wounds or illness. Rouen was a major hub for the British and base for over a dozen hospitals.
His battalion had been in the Vierstraat region of the Ypres Salient from the start of the year. Although in a state of readiness, very little in the way of action.
